What it's all about on Yachts And Yachting
A Letter From The Editor
This web page/newsletter is dedicated to yachts and yachting, for those, like me, who love the idea of owning or spending time on a yacht. At one time, yachts and yachting were for the super-rich. These days, thanks in no small part to people like Nick Burnham, of Aquaholic, Jack Haines, of YachtBuyer, David Seal, of Yachts For Sale, James Burke, of Boats, Co. UK, and Rico and Victoria on Nautistyles, all on YouTube, we have seen the global democratisation of yacht ownership and use.
It also helps that it seems like there is a boat or yacht for just about every budget. You can spend less than the cost of a decent car right up to mega-million Super yachts that would cost you the proverbial arm and a leg.
I think part of the attraction is the endless possibilities for getting away from it all, even going completely off-grid. It also appeals to people who want to go a lot further exploring the world. Yet others want to find their own space at over-crowded popular Mediterranean resorts. And of course, some like to participate in water sports such as fishing and sub-aqua diving.
Although everybody likes a beautiful-looking boat, I do not believe that serious (wannabe) yachters go on looks alone. A pretty face is all well and good, but it is not going to get you far if everything else is below par for what can reasonably be expected.
People want safety, creature comforts, and well-appointed spaces with all modern appliances. And yes, they also want to have a lot of fun. They also want affordability with the purchase price, maintenance, berthing and running costs. It’s a lot to consider when you think about it.
Here at Yachts Ahoy, we hope to introduce you to the news and views on a wide range of possibilities in all types and sizes of boats and yachts. We also want to have featured guest experts giving their views on what is on the market, new or used, that is worth taking a look at.
We also want to introduce some yet-to-be-decided special offers, exclusively for paid subscribers. More news on that matter will be forthcoming soon.
One last thing I want to say is that for the time being this site offers free access to everybody. However, it did cost a good deal to create and even more to maintain and host. For this reason, we are looking for sponsors and/or advertisers. If anybody is interested please email me so we can have a chat in private.
In the meantime, thank you for popping in to see us and we hope to see you again soon. Bon Voyage.
